THE OAKLAND PRESS - MENTAL HEALTH $20M BUDGET CUT

“The Oakland County Community Mental Health Authority is instituting a new waitlist for outpatient care beginning Tuesday after a $20 million cut to the agency’s general fund. The waitlist is for patients who do not qualify for the Healthy Michigan, Medicaid or MIChild programs or who require financial assistance. Due to the budget cuts and new Affordable Care Act-related rules, the agency said it can no longer serve people as it has in the past. The change prevents those in need from receiving timely service, according to a statement by the agency, which added that an individual will only be placed on the list after they have been assessed, their immediate crisis needs have been met, and the situation has been stabilized by Common Ground.”

THE OAKLAND PRESS - AMERICAN IDOL WINNER, JENA IRENE

“Throughout the 13th “American Idol” season, the powerful voice of Jena Irene Asciutto has echoed from the TV and into the ears of fans all over the world. The Farmington Hills resident’s family at Hercules Coney Island, her former workplace and second home, say the results show Wednesday night will give way to the next chapter of Asciutto’s dreams that began when she was a child. Many of her life-long friends and co-workers will be watching — anticipating her good fortune. “I am anxious to see it,” said Christina Adamopoulos, owner of Hercules Coney Island. ‘But I don’t feel nervous. She already did what she wants to do, and she has won no matter what. Doors are open for her.’”
